About Me

Dr. Alemayehu Midekisa is a Geospatial Scientist and Research to Operations Coordinator at the University of Alabama, Tuscaloosa, AL. 

Dr. Midekisa is a former NASA Earth and Space Science Fellow with expertise in geospatial data science, remote sensing, and environmental change. His research leverages big geospatial data, cloud computing, and machine learning to address complex environmental challenges, including drought early warning, flood monitoring, and land use change detection.

Passionate about developing scalable, data-driven solutions, he works at the intersection of science and technology to advance our ability to understand and respond to environmental hazards. With hands-on experience in tools such as Google Earth Engine, Python, and geospatial AI, he specializes in transforming large-scale Earth observation data into actionable insights that support decision-making and real-world applications.
